MOHANA KARLEKAR, MD
Dr. Karlekar received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She completed her internship and residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City. During her residency training, she worked with Dr. R. Sean Morrison and acquired her passion for palliative care and geriatric medicine. She taught ethics and end of life care to residents in the internal medicine training program at Elmhurst Hospital. In addition, she led small group sessions for the first and second year medical students at Mt. Sinai Medical Center for the Arts and Science of Medicine Course. Prior to joining the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Dr. Karlekar was recruited to be the program director for the internal residency at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center. While at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center, Dr. Karlekar directed the palliative care consultative service. Dr. Karlekar is a Diplomat of the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine, and is currently the Medical Director of the Palliative care Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has published and presented in the field of hospice and palliative care medicine both nationally and internationally.
